Kahilu.TV is premiering its first original documentary film, Legacy of Pāʻū with Barbara Nobriga, showcasing the legacy of Barbara Nobriga and the art of pā'ū wrapping. Barbara has devoted 55 years to preserving and perpetuating the art of pā'ū, always organizing the King Kamehameha Day parade in Kona. With a total runtime of 23 minutes, the documentary features details of the pā'ū wrapping process, an in-depth interview with Barbara Nobriga herself, and footage from the King Kamehameha Day parade where plenty of elegant riders show off local flowers, a wide range of beautiful pā'ū wrappings and an intimate look into some of the hard work that goes into preserving this historical and culturally significant art form.
Following the premiere of the documentary, Kahilu Board President Kapena Alapaʻi will host a brief talk story interview with Barbara Nobriga and Kahilu.TV producer, Adam Palya to learn more about Barabar's life, and what went into the filmmaking process.
